Our Good Citizen Award

The Maverick Foundation - Good Citizen Award

The Maverick Foundation established our Good Citizen Award Program in 2004 that recognizes well deserving eighth grade students nominated by their teacher or school principal for being exemplary role models, their willingness to help others, possessing worthy academic records especially with regards to conduct and effort, or for overcoming a significant obstacle or difficult family situation to achieve their goals while demonstrating a positive attitude.

Each deserving student receives a Good Citizen Medal with a certificate and a Maverick Foundation “Good Citizen Award” tee shirt at their graduation presented by their school principal.

Our 16th Annual Program in 2019 presented 18 Good Citizen Awards, bringing our total to 291 awards since its inception. We appreciate the cooperation and participation of school officials that allow this program to flourish.

Kind Words

“We would like to thank you for all the years you have recognized the 8th Grade students of Saint Mary’s School at graduation time. You have been a positive influence on their values and commitment to community. God Bless you in furthering the values of our youth.”

Words of appreciation from a Good Citizen Award Recipient, Michaela Hady…

“Thank you so much for awarding me the Jack Connolly Leadership and  Good Citizen Award. I felt very honored to be recognized with such a prestigious award. Also, thank you for warmly inviting my family and me to the Lt. Joe Gullickson Memorial Picnic. My family and I had a wonderful time and met many extraordinary people. The warmth of The Maverick Foundation inspired us and we are looking forward to next year’s picnic. I am very honored and grateful to have been chosen to receive this award and am eager to meet more people associated with this foundation.”

Words of appreciation from a Good Citizen Award Recipient, Brittany McGarvey…

“I am writing to thank you for choosing me to receive the Good Citizen Award at my graduation from St. Charles School.  It was a great honor to be presented with the medal and certificate.  Helping children further their education through the scholarship fund you’ve set up and honoring those who demonstrate the characteristics of Joseph and Dan are wonderful ways to keep the memories of these two heroes alive. I am truly sorry that I am unable to attend the memorial picnic this Saturday but I am performing in my dance recital.  I thank you again from the bottom of my heart and want both families to know that receiving this award brought a tremendous smile to my face.”
